Short answer

GRDX Sightings is how people share photos of GRDX patrol cars, officers, and GRDX-1. Spot one, snap a photo, and tag @grdxhq with #GRDX on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X, or LinkedIn. A monthly prize for the best photo is planned once official rules are in place.

How Sightings works

Sightings works in three steps: spot, snap, tag. When you see a GRDX car or officer, take a photo and post it with @grdxhq and #GRDX.

  • Spot a GRDX patrol car, officer, or GRDX-1
  • Snap a photo from a safe spot
  • Tag @grdxhq and add #GRDX

Where to post

Tag us on any of our channels. We are @grdxhq on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, X, and LinkedIn, and on Nextdoor as GRDX.

The monthly prize

A monthly prize for the best photo is coming. It starts once the official rules are written and posted on this page, so nothing is being awarded yet.

Keep tagging in the meantime. We may feature favorite shots on our channels.

What counts as a sighting

Any photo of a marked GRDX vehicle, a uniformed GRDX officer, or GRDX-1 counts as a sighting. Patrol cars working Loudoun neighborhoods, officers at an event in Old Town, or the Corvette at a car show all qualify.

Group photos with an officer are welcome when the officer agrees and is not busy working a post.

We love seeing the car in the background of everyday life, too: a patrol unit parked outside a coffee shop in Sterling or rolling down Connecticut Avenue makes a fine entry.

Take photos safely

Please do not photograph while driving, and do not approach an officer who is dealing with an incident. A parked car or an officer at an event is the easy shot.

Respect the privacy of people around the car, and do not post photos from inside a client's private property without permission.

Never while driving

Pull over or let a passenger take the photo.

Give officers room

If they are working an incident, keep your distance.

Respect private property

Shoot from public places.
